报告摘要(Abstract):
Radical intermediates offer unique reactivity beyond conventional two-electron chemistry, but their synthetic utility depends on practical and selective methods for their generation and control. This lecture will highlight our efforts to develop new radical-based strategies through both electrochemical and non-electrochemical approaches. Together, these studies illustrate how new ways of generating and controlling radicals can reshape modern organic synthesis.
报告人简介(Brief introduction):
Yu Kawamata is an Institute Investigator at Scripps Research, where he works with Professor Phil S. Baran on the development of new synthetic methods. He received his Ph.D. from Kyoto University in 2016 under the supervision of Professor Keiji Maruoka. His research focuses on developing practical and conceptually new approaches to organic synthesis, with particular interests in electrochemistry, radical chemistry, cross-coupling, and anything weird. His work has contributed to the development of methods including electrochemical oxidations such as direct C-H oxidation, decarboxylative reactions and alternating-current electrolysis. More recently, he is actively involved in electrochemistry-free radical cross-coupling using sulfonyl hydrazides. His broader research goal is to develop unconventional reactivity that enables simpler and more useful approaches to chemical synthesis.
