Personal Profile
Haijun Jiao is currently a Professor at the Leibniz Institute for Catalysis in Germany. He received his Ph.D. in 1995 at the University of Erlangen-Nürnberg. He was postdoctoral research at the University of Erlangen-Nürnberg Germany and at the University Rennes. Since 2002 he has been working as the group leader of computational and theoretical catalysis at the Leibniz Institute for catalysis in Rostock and obtained his Habilitation in 2006. His research interests are computational homogeneous and heterogeneous catalysis, organometallics and physical organic chemistry. He is especially interest in the hydrogenative conversion of CO2 into chemicals, such as methane, methanol, lower alcohols, and hydrocarbons and syngas using both homogeneous and heterogeneous catalysts. He has published 490 scientific papers.
Abstract
This talk demonstrates the interplay of computational studies and experimental investigations in understanding, characterizing, and rationalizing the reaction mechanisms of metal complex-catalyzed hydrogenation, dehydrogenation, and transfer hydrogenation reactions of small energy molecules. Of particular interest is the realization and confirmation of computationally proposed results by designed experimental work and how computational studies can advance experimental studies.
