报告人简介

Daniel B. Werz is a Chair Professor of Organic Chemistry at the University of Freiburg and Chair of the Liebig Association for Organic Chemistry of the German Chemical Society. In 2003, he received his Ph.D. from Heidelberg University under the supervision of Prof. Rolf Gleiter and conducted postdoctoral research with Prof. Rolf Gleiter and Prof. Peter H. Seeberger at ETH Zurich. In 2018, he was promoted to a Chair Professorship at Technische Universität Braunschweig, and in 2022, he moved to the University of Freiburg as a Chair Professor. His research focuses on strained small-ring chemistry and carbohydrate chemistry. His honors include an ERC Consolidator Grant, Emmy Noether Fellowship and Heisenberg Fellowship, ORCHEM Award and Thieme Journal Award. He has published 283 papers, with more than 17,000 citations and an h-index of 72.

报告摘要

Donor-acceptor cyclopropanes (DACs) are highly strained entities which are unique building blocks for hetero- and carbocyclic systems. We have been developing novel methodologies starting from DACs leading to oligopyrroles, chalcogen-containing heterocycles, and 1,3-bisfunctionalized products, just to name a few. To get deeper insights into their intrinsic reactivity in-depth physical organic studies were performed recently. Beyond conventional Lewis acid activation, DACs can undergo ring-opening and cycloaddition through Rh, redox, or, electrochemical catalysis.
